Happy 40th Birthday Intel 4004 eBook Rik Myslewski

It's 40 years since Intel baked the first microprocessor, so celebrate by buying The Register's latest ebook, Happy Birthday Intel 4004.
In this ebook, El Reg's Rik Myslewski traces Intel's path from the 4004, Intel's 2,300 transistor, 10 micron wunderkind of 1971, through to the 22nm, multi-billion transistor, multi-core marvels that underpin today silicon-based world.
On the way, he runs through the chip giant's biggest hits and asks a barful of Intel's top engineers when exactly we can expect the company's processors to finally supplant our puny human brains. The answer will surprise you. And don't worry, he hardly mentions Itanium at all.
At less than the price of a birthday card, this ebook will leave you amazed, astounded, and wondering where the time went.

The intel 4004 was arguably the first 4-bit monolithicmicroprocessor. This is a decent desciption of the
details of the chip.

Happy 40th Birthday Intel 4004 eBook Rik Myslewski Reviews
The pictures of the chips show up very nicely on a Fire, or on a PC running software. They appear to all be color pictures. A few are a bit blurry, but most are quite sharp, considering especially that these are very small chips being photographed. On a normal black-and-white , the pictures are not quite as pleasant, as the colors help to delineate many of the structures on the chips. My only disappointment was in not being able to increase the size of the pictures, to see some of the details a little closer.
There is no table of contents or index. I would normally have taken one star away for that, but the pictures are beautiful.
